Rationale
In the article I wrote above, I followed the newspaper's profile, as I wrote the article over a colored background, to engage the audience, which is high school female students. I then used easy language throughout the paper, such as "big", or "Good" because that was also in the newspapers' profile. I have used different bias by spin techniques in the article, for example, I have used the technique "Appeal to Misleading Authority" twice in the article. Appeal to Misleading Authority misleads the reader into thinking that certain statements written in a paper are unquestionable facts just because they were said/cited from an expert which we (as readers) know nothing about, not even if he really is an expert. An example from the article I wrote is when I say "...was found to privately meet with Ariana weekly by our private investigator", this makes the reader take the statement as an unquestionable fact because the term "private investigator" implies it must be someone with expertise which followed the case closely. The second time i used Appeal to Misleading Authority is when I wrote "...former judge Mr. MacPherson, confirms that out of all..." Even though we have no idea who Mr.MacPherson is and what kind of judge he was, just for the fact that he was a judge, we take every one of his words as true and we trust what he says about the subject. Proofiness was also used in the article. Proofiness is lying with numbers to mislead the reader. For example, when in the article I say "..., less than 1% were actually donated to charities", I am lying with numbers as not only is my number not precise but just a vague guess, but also because I provide no evidence whatsoever of what study it comes from. I have used colors in my writing, as well as special formatting, as I wrote in the profile, so that the attention of teens on the topic is greater.
