Annotation
Techniques:
The article uses bias by spin to selectively omit information. The technique used in order to do so is called cherry picking, which instead of selectively omitting information, it selectively chooses information in order to create a one sided story on an argument including facts which only support the paper's view on the topic, the view that they want to persuade. We can see this from the title when it says "The US caused more global warming than any other country". This is an opinion which is not being supported by facts, and according to other websites, it is seen as not true, meaning that this information was selectively chosen to represent a clear stance. Another bias by spin technique is Appeal to misleading authority, and it is when the reader is convinced that a fact is true just because an article said it was quoted from an expert, which the reader knows nothing about, for example, in the paper they say "... according to geoscientist Raymond", and just because Raymond is a geoscientist, we take him as an expert on the subject which knows what he is talking about and that what he says its true. However, we know nothing about this scientist and his career in the science field
